Research Drive (ENG): Share with Research Drive user at another institution

Introduction

You can easily share files and folders with other (HAN) Research Drive users. You can also share files and folders with external people who have created their own local login accounts for Research Drive (after you invite them).

SHARE FILE OR FOLDER WITH (HAN) RESEARCH DRIVE USERS

Follow these steps:
1. Go to the file or folder you want to share. Click the Share icon next to the file.
2. The following screen will appear on the right:

3. Locate the user or group by typing in the first few letters of their name. If the person you want to share with does not yet have a Research Drive account, you can easily invite them through the Research Drive Dashboard.
Note: Not all users will appear immediately as you type. You may need to type the name in full before it appears.
You can find your Research Drive username in your personal settings.
4. After you add the user, click next to their name to grant them permissions. 

Set the permissions you want to give and an expiration date, if required.
Click "Notify by email" to notify them that the folder has been shared with them. 
5.  Want to stop sharing? Click on the recycle bin icon next to their name.  
 

SHARE PRIVATE LINK / PERMANENT LINK WITH OTHER USER

It is possible to send other users a private link/permanent link to the location of a shared file/folder.
1. Go to the file or folder whose link you want to share. Click the Share icon  next to the file.
2. The following screen will appear on the right:

3. Click on the  top right to see and copy the link. 
4. Share the link with the other user.
