Workspace is a virtual HAN workspace that provides access to a number of specific applications and storage capabilities (such as the R-drive). If you, as a researcher, store all of your (active) research data on the R-drive, you will need to use Workspace. A known limitation of virtual environments (such as Workspace) is that there are delays in using applications such as SPSS. If you also use the Research Drive, it will also be slower than normal.
Our advice is to put all (active) research data on Research Drive. This skips the additional (virtual) switch Workspace and will improve performance.

If you want to use SPSS, we recommend that you place the (active) research data on the Research Drive and install SPSS on a HAN laptop. With Workspace no longer present as additional link between Research Drive and SPSS, the speed of data processing in SPSS has increased.
How do I request SPSS (for my HAN laptop)?
